XII·II · The Death and Rebirth of Zagreus
The Titans lure the infant god Zagreus with toys and a mirror, tear him to pieces, and devour him — Zeus incinerates the Titans with a thunderbolt, and from their ashes, humanity is born, carrying both the divine fragment and the Titanic hunger in every cell.
You are made of two things: the god who was devoured and the hunger that devoured him.
XII·III · Pentheus Torn Apart
The king of Thebes refuses to accept the new god, bans his worship, imprisons his followers — and Dionysus drives the king's own mother mad, leads her to mistake her son for a lion, and she tears him apart with her bare hands, because the system that resists the update becomes the update's first casualty.
The system that resists the update doesn't survive. It becomes the update's first sacrifice.
XII·IV · The Pirates Transformed to Dolphins
Pirates capture a beautiful boy standing alone on a headland, planning to sell him as a slave — the boy is Dionysus, the ropes refuse to hold, wine floods the ship, ivy crawls up the mast, and the pirates leap into the sea and become dolphins, because whoever captures the god of transformation gets transformed.
The thing you try to commodify will commodify you.
XII·V · Dionysus and Ariadne
Theseus abandons Ariadne on the island of Naxos after she saved his life in the labyrinth — and Dionysus finds her there, weeping, and marries her, turning her crown into a constellation, because the god of dissolution is also the god who puts broken things back together, and the ones abandoned by heroes are found by gods.
The ones abandoned by heroes are found by gods. The crown becomes a constellation.
