DARKROOM
the bar built around the thirty seconds you never got
A bar of private rooms inside a public night: eight pods, one unfinished human moment each. One ritual per room. Athens first; the next four already picked.

01 · The manifesto
Modern nightlife is a public performance. DARKROOM carves eight private theatres inside it.
You arrive with people, leave with a story. In between: thirty seconds alone you never got. Forty years of nightlife optimized against them: bigger, louder, more witnesses.
DARKROOM is the other way: the room you leave the crowd for without leaving the crowd. The stairwell, built on purpose.

02 · The room
A photographer’s darkroom: long, narrow, safelight red. The bar runs the full length. Bottles indexed like film canisters; drinks ordered by number.

Envelope
22.0 × 7.0 × 4.2 m
300 mm board-marked concrete, 900 mm steel grid module. ~48 seated plus standing bar.
The bar
Cast red-tinted PMMA resin
22.0 × 0.9 × 1.1 m, welded steel armature, edge-lit: the room's light source.
The safelight
16 cm × 2.2 m red slit
A permission: enough light to work by, the film protected.
The pods
8 × Ø 2.2 m, rotating 180°
2.4 m tall, ~55 dB sealed. Occupied face closed, empty face open. Nothing leaks out.
03 · The ritual
You are the image. The pod is the tray.
Above each pod, a pilot lamp: green vacant, red occupied, dark in reset. Step in; the cylinder turns; the bar disappears. What you do inside is yours.
The darkroom refuses the world; the image develops; you come out repaired.
When a cylinder turns: a flash of another world, then gone. The bar itself becomes the theater.
04 · The film
Three studies. No faces, nothing fast; only red speaks.
